This is the first in a series of articles that deal with the darker side
of
Active Worlds. This in no way places blame on AW for the troubles reported
here. AW is made up of people. When
ever people are involved there is always a dark side.
First we will talk about the "The List". The list is complied
of all the active citizens' accounts on AW. That list is always changing
but it safe to say there are about 12,000 "Real Active Accounts".
They're many citizen account numbers that are used by people within Circle
of Fire Inc. These accounts being accounts for Gate Keepers, Peace Keepers,
Name protection Accounts and Other Accounts I have no clue to their purpose.
It is the Protection accounts I will be talking about in this Edition. These
accounts lock in certain names to keep other people from impersonating certain
people within COF and officers of AW. You can see for yourself who is important
enough to have this protection.
This is all well and good for those who can get the protection but what about the normal one account AW Citizen? What can he do to protect himself from some one posing as him or her? Well as you can see we will have to take some other means that those below.

By studying the citizen names above you see a pattern start to form. The Letters O, L and I can be used to confuse someone into thinking that are they you. First the myths must be did away with to find the truth.
1. The biggest myth of all. Someone stole my name! Only one person can
have a name at one given time. If you change your name then someone can
steal it while you are being someone else. If you like your name keep it
safe by using it at all times. Oh one more thing some one can steal your
account and name if you give them your password. NEVER reveal
your password to anyone.
2. Some one deleted my buildings! Only if they have a Privilege Password
or access to your account can this happen. There are people in COF and AW
who can delete objects but this is seldom done unless there is something
done against the rules.
3. Most people lose their accounts and names because the trust the wrong person or foolishly give the information away.
4. Never take files from someone unless you know them very well. ALWAYS check the files are running with an up to date Virus checker.

The one good thing is a Capital O and a small o are treated the same in an AW name so you only have to worry about zero and O. You can see the difference if you look close.
One more warning and it is one easy to over look. The Space

Pretty easy to see if not thinking about your next comment or eating dinner.
So be careful out there and never be the one to use the tricks you now know
for evil but only protect yourself with this knowledge. This is BRO or is
it Bro no BR0 from the dark side and the outer ring be careful out there.
