Sun May 25, 2003 12:25 PM
BRO: I want to interview you for our paper
ORB: Ok :o) Where will we start?
BRO: First let me say it is great honor to have this time to interview the
most important person in AW to me. :)
ORB: Thank for taking the time to try to know me better. You are as important
to me.
BRO: I want to just ask you questions as they come to mind
ORB: Sure
BRO: This is very informal
BRO: ORB when did you first come to Postland?
ORB: It was in January of 2002
BRO: How did you meet me?
ORB: I met you at Weebette's Get Well Site after being invited by Cyberwitch.
BRO: So we were both making a build there?
ORB: We had made our builds and we met while talking to CW and Weebo
BRO: Ah, Well then after that what happened?
ORB: We shared a little bit about ourselves in the introduction. I liked
to build and you mentioned you had a town. I was invited to go and build
there.
BRO: You are now the Co-owner of Postland and my partner
ORB: Yes you and I have been partners in Postland for some time now.
BRO: When you came to Postland what did you think about the city?
ORB: I thought it was full of history
BRO: You and I are partners in a world called ESSAYONS and do everything
together now right?
ORB: We are best of friends and care very much about each other. Yes we
do everything together in Active Worlds. We've been significant in each
other's creativity
BRO: I have noticed lot s of new life in Postland since you came to Postland.
BRO: Can you talk about the builds you like best in Postland?
ORB: There are so many wonderful builds in Postland.
ORB: The residents have unique build styles and it's very diverse.
ORB: To choose a favorite I'd honestly have to say it's the Post Office
since it's the center of town and holds a lot of historical teleports
BRO: Yes The Post office does have the most history for sure
BRO: You have made some great builds they're which one of them are you most
proud of?
ORB: The build that I'm most proud of is the one I made on my first lot
in Postland. Lot# 4. It was finished after several attempts before I realized
that Skyee was ill I had made another build that would change with each
holiday.
ORB: Then, I discovered she was very ill and changed the build for her.
We talked briefly a few times and I thought of how wonderful a person she
was to everyone.
ORB: I changed the build because I felt sad that she wouldn't be with us
a lot longer.
BRO: You worked long hours on her memorial site and did a wonderful job
I know that was a hard thing to do. It is a wonderful build
ORB: It's not nearly enough. She was beautiful inside and out.
She deserves much more than I could ever have done.
ORB: It was sad for so many people. I'm thankful that I was able to get
to know her even if just a short time. You are so much like her it's no
wonder you were so close.
BRO: You were with me during that time after Skyee's death it was a very
sad time but you gave me so much comfort thank you.
BRO: All you do is top notch and very superb.
ORB: I think the same about you.
ORB: You are creative and I have a great time in Postland and ESSAYONS
BRO: Being co-owner you are in Postland a lot. Do you ever see Citizens
of Postland there?
ORB: Yes I see citizens often; as a matter of fact a few days Comte de Paris
was in Postland, we hadn't seen him in a while he's been away working
ORB: He's back and he's going to be able to be in Active Worlds more often
ORB: It was special to hear you say how good that made you feel to see your
friends in Postland
BRO: Yes that is very true we enjoy seeing the citizens come by
BRO: Postland is a mix of the old and new. In what ways do you try to get
that blend?
ORB: I respect its history. It will endure changes as people grow and change
and new people arrive. The history there is protected. It's all well meshed
and tells a story
BRO: Yes it will. :)
BRO: So the city is still alive and growing but also keeps the past and
history
BRO: That sounds like a real life city.
ORB: Yes there are builds there from when Skyee and you dragged the first
object to Postland back in 98
ORB: There are builds by your grandson Mr. Bee
ORB: There are those builds that are about the main theme from Ft Leonard
Wood where had you spent 25 years as an employee
BRO: One of the new buildings is the teleport center right across from the
Post office. You made that build but it looks so much like the rest of the
building around it. You have look at the date to tell it is new. How were
you able to do that?
ORB: To build in an area I like to understand its theme. The Post Office
holds the historical teleports
ORB: What we needed was a space for the builds outside of Postland, that
why I made the Postland Teleport Center. I used the same objects as the
surrounding buildings to make it blind in with the same historical look
of the old city.
BRO: The building is so artful yet does not take away from the early design
of the Post Office .It is very good build
ORB: Yes, it was about keeping with the style of the original theme on Main
Street.
BRO: Lets talk a bit your idea for holiday builds. Your Turkey for Thanksgiving
and the Christmas site both are wonderful.
BRO: How did you come up with that?
ORB: The idea I had when I was given my first lot in Postland was going
to be about changing holidays so I decide much later to go with the holiday
theme and enjoy celebrating in Postland.
BRO: It sure did cause people to come and see them.
BRO: Last year you had a Haunted house. I hear you are redoing that site
to be even spookier this year?
ORB: I love to build! I'm so thankful for Active Worlds for the chance to
express creativity and most of all for knowing you BRO.
BRO: Well I feel same way about knowing you ORB.
BRO: You are the most creative and wonderful person I have ever known.
BRO: ORB, that is nice name how did you get the name?
ORB: ORBvious lol
BRO: Yes it is :)
BRO: You have great sense of humor.
BRO: As co-owner of Postland what are some of things you do there?
ORB: I invite my friends in to build.
ORB: I help decide which lots will be used first.
ORB: I help expand the city and build a lot there, which I find to be relaxing
and peaceful .
BRO: Editors note (ORB is equal in all City operations same as BRO)
BRO: I have seen new live in city since you came. Do you interview citizens
before they build, what rules do you have about what they build?
ORB: We don't make rules about what other people build except there is a
standing rule that is the city is G Rated
ORB: People have different build styles and ideas and they are free to build
whatever they dream of
ORB: If someone is invited to build but they say they don't' know to build
yet, it's best for them to go to AWSchool and learn first.
ORB: We use to spend time teaching others but we have so many projects going
now we have dedicate our time to those.
BRO: Yes that has always been the rule in Postland doing G rated builds
and be nice.
BRO: Once a person has a lot they can build whatever they want as long as
it is G rated.
BRO: You do many of city builds for citizens to enjoy.
BRO: What are some of you future planed builds?
ORB: My thoughts are always on the holidays because I feel that people gather
at those times more.
BRO: You have been traveling AW quite bit lately what is the purpose in
those travels?
ORB: I'm trying to understand the big picture of Alpha World.
ORB: I began in Postland one day and decided to search from there heading
to GZ
BRO: We can look forward to new reports on that quest of yours.
ORB: I found so many abandoned towns and was disappointed, but also along
way where lots of creative expressive builds which were fun to see.
BRO: I would like to have a list of these places for our paper
ORB: I'm working on a collection of coordinates to pyramid builds
ORB: I'd like to understand why so many people tend to build them when they
come to AW. What are the meanings really?
ORB: Some people think of them and mazes as pink flamingos
BRO: I wanted to ask you about your how you learn to build and your feelings
about sharing what you do?
ORB: I learned to build back in December of 98. Techno Zeus taught me to
build.
BRO: I know you are always doing new things
BRO: What are some the other builders that you enjoy seeing?
ORB: I have enjoyed seeing towns that are thriving
ORB: SW City, Horizon is the bigger towns, but there are some smaller towns
with lots of interesting builds
BRO: What is most amazing thing you have seen ?
ORB: I don't know yet ask me later. :o)
BRO: I would like to talk about the ESSAYONS Project now
ORB: Sure let's do that.
BRO: How you remember that getting started?
ORB: I think it was meant to happen
ORB: Back when I first got to Postland and had some many questions about
the theme of your town
BRO: You and I started ESSAYONS from the beginning.
BRO: Your interest in Postland and the desire to do a world together kind
of made the theme come alive?
BRO: I would say I think that God did have us cross paths in AW.
ORB: When we met I had already owned a world and was a modeler and you wanted
a way to expand on the theme of our town, so we became partners and developed
ESSAYONS
BRO: All we do is a wonderful joy to me
BRO: You do all the molding and some many other things in ESSAYONS what
part do you enjoy the most?
ORB: I enjoy it all, I'm an artist, and I think the modeling is most fun
BRO: I enjoy the whole process too :)
ORB: I enjoy creating textures too, but the modeling somehow makes 3d art
really come to life.
BRO: Your work on the George Town Castle Gate House is the best I have ever
seen. Just how hard was that set of objects to make?
ORB: It wasn't hard to make. It all started with a blueprint of the real
Castle
ORB: Time consuming but not hard at all.
BRO: That is quite rare in AW most objects are not that exact?
ORB: I don't' know I haven't seen a lot of models that are replicas of actual
places.
ORB: I need to world hop more I think.
BRO: Well we will have to let others judge but I think your work as a molder
is the best I have ever seen.
BRO: I know it is not polite to brag on ones self but allow me say that
about you ORB.
ORB: Well I'm not the best there are so many that know more about modeling
than I do
BRO: I have found you to always be humble and respectful of other in the
trade.
BRO: In the of making of ESSAYONS there have been many things that set it
apart from other worlds you have worked on.
BRO: One of course is the ownership equally shared with me. How does it
work sharing totally in all aspects of the world?
ORB: It works wonderfully sharing in all of the areas of creating the world
with you.
ORB: We are both artistic.
BRO: So, you really like the way we work together?
ORB: How do you say we're both fussy?
BRO: We are fussy
ORB: I enjoy working with you in ESSAYONS more than I've ever enjoyed working
in any other world.
ORB: I've even had my own worlds and didn't like it more than working with
you, because of the companionship and sharing
BRO: Yes ORB I feel the same way
ORB: Thank God we're patient sometimes lol
BRO: OK, ORB can I ask a few more personal questions?
ORB: Yes ask me
BRO: I know we do lots Birthday Sites when we have time. We seem to always
do something new each time. Do you enjoy making things together as much
as I do?
ORB: The part of being in AW that I enjoy above all is being with you.
ORB: Creating everything with you brings me joy.
BRO: I feel the same way about that.
BRO: Is there something you would like to add?
ORB: I'd like to add that the experience of getting to know you through
this medium has brought me close to you in another dimension, one that goes
beyond words.
ORB: I could talk all day but I think I'd like to go build a while =)
And with That ORB was off to build in our world ESSAYONS. If you happen
across this page and have found something missing in you AW experience I
would encourage you to find a partner and build. I know that for me, AW
is a new universe because of my partner ORB. (Editor note BRO)
